Our Story
Stanford Women in Business (SWIB) was co-founded in the fall of 2005 by four Stanford undergraduate women. Today, members are supported with meaningful career direction, professional network development, and opportunities for growth. We do this by engaging with our members around three pillars: education, community, and networking. All members of the Stanford community are welcome to participate in and become members of Stanford Women in Business. These core values form the basis of our events throughout the year—from skill development workshops to leadership conferences, career exposes, mentorship programs, speaker series, and more.
Meet Our Team!
Stanford Women in Business is made up of six core teams that work together to promote our mission. SWIB is led by co-presidents who oversee the organization and each of its teams as they relate to empowering young women in pre-professional careers. Specifically, they focus on the execution of events, weekly meetings, intern programming, and external relations.

The Executive Leadership Series is a quarterly event that provides the Stanford community with an opportunity to learn about and discuss one leader’s unique journey to success. This new event was conceived with the aim of giving Stanford students an avenue to learn more about business through the experiences of others. Previous speakers include Helena Foulkes (the current Chief Executive Officer of Hudson's Bay Company), Janet Foutty (Chairwoman & CEO, Deloitte) and Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen (Founder & President, Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen Foundation). The Young Women's Leadership Summit is an annual event that brings together young women from California high schools for a day of workshops and speeches from inspiring speakers. The event aims to prepare and educate young women about the world of business while having the chance to experience Stanford. During the day-long conference, attendees listen to and learn from accomplished women leaders, gain hands-on experience through workshops, and interact with industry professionals, Stanford students, and motivated peers. Every February, SWIB organizes tech week, where female leaders of tech are recognized and brought to Stanford to introduce the Stanford community to the various opportunities in tech. Last year, we hosted Stanford alumni and Co-Founder of LinkedIn Reid Hoffman for our keynote speech. In addition, we hosted a Women Across Tech Panel (Google, Android, Airbnb, Uber, and more represented), and a startup Lunch (DoorDash, Poshmark, SendGrid, and more represented). Learn more→
